Gymnastics and Trampoline

“Learn to Fly and Defy Gravity!
Fun, Fitness, Fundamentals and Safety!”

You probably don’t know this, but a wide variety of acrobatic gymnastics and trampoline skills and drills are often included in the training program of pilots, astronauts/cosmonauts, and parachutists so “flying and defying gravity” is a good description of what we teach! Our classes and workshops are taught by Bill Chong who is a former competitive gymnast who was trained by Olympic coaches and who is a nationally certified coach in gymnastics and trampoline.

Our gymnastics tumbling and acrobatics classes and workshops are designed to teach basic beginner to advanced level gymnastics tumbling and acrobatics for cheerleaders, Acro-Dancers and martial artists of all fitness levels. Our private classes will give you that extra competitive edge you need to excel in your competition routines or performances!

Our introductory trampoline injury prevention and safety program is designed specifically for home owners with home or backyard trampolines who want to prevent injuries and avoid multi-million dollar lawsuits from backyard trampoline-related injuries.

Gymnastics Tumbling Workshops for Cheerleaders
Acro-Dancers and Martial Artists

Your athletes will be in good hands with Bill!

Coached by Tomislav Zivic (selected as Canada’s men’s gymnastics coach for the boycotted 1980 Olympics) and Masaaki Naosaki  (Canada’s men’s gymnastics coach for the 1988 and 1992 Olympic games and twelve times coach of the Canadian Men’s World Championships teams) while competing for the York University Lions Yeomen gymnastics team, Bill is a former provincial, national and international competitive gymnast with over 8+ years of competitive experience.

Bill was the first Canadian gymnast to successfully perform two times Olympic Champion Aleksandr Vasilyevich Tkachyov’s most famous Tkachev gymnastic move on Horizontal Bar in competition in Canada.

Bill is a National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) gymnastics and trampoline coach with many years of coaching experience.  Currently, he is a senior coach at the Nepean Corona School of Gymnastics  teaching trampoline, double mini-trampoline and a wide variety of recreational gymnastics classes for all age and ability levels including group, semi-private and private classes.

In addition to teaching at the Nepean Corona School of Gymnastics, Bill also teaches gymnastics independently to a wide variety of clubs and sports disciplines, such as martial arts, mixed martial arts, cheerleading, Acro-Dance, CrossFit, etc.

Funny true story – In 1977, Bill was invited by Tomislav Zivic and Masaaki Naosaki to train with the York University men’s gymnastics team and moved from North Bay to Toronto and, as fate would have it, ended up subletting a room from former Canadian National gymnastics team member and now famous astronaut star Steve MacLean.

Trampoline Injury Prevention and Safety WorkshopsTrampoline Injury Prevention and Safety Workshops

Trampolines can be a ton of fun, safe and a great way for your child to get in great shape and develop a ton of physical literacy skills, but they can also be extremely dangerous and can lead to personal bankruptcy from injury lawsuits if they are not used properly.  Our introductory injury prevention and safety workshops are designed to:

  • Educate home owners of the dangers of home or backyard trampolines and how to properly use them so their children and their friends and family members use them safely and injury-free; and,
  • Avoid the multi-million dollar lawsuits that are typically awarded to people who get seriously injured while using a trampoline.

The workshops shed light on the alarming rise in injuries, many of them very serious and life-altering spinal injuries that could have been easily avoided.

We hope you will book your safety workshop with us today, but until then here are some basic hints and tips that will ensure that safety and “lawsuit-free” is not just an “option”, but something that will keep you, your kids, family members and friends safe and having fun without all of the guilt and financial consequences:

  1. No flips – Allowing only non-inverted skills avoids the risk of serious injury from head or neck.
  2. One at a time – A single jumper does not have to worry about collisions, double-bounces, landing on limbs, etc.
  3. Safe clearance – Always check to make sure there is enough space around or overhead of the trampoline so there is a safe clearance.
  4. Keep it locked – Just like a swimming pool, making sure the trampoline cannot be used when you are not there will keep unwanted jumpers away.

Summer camps

Cheerleading and Acro-Dance – This program offers expert instruction for tumbling for cheerleading and acro-dance, gymnastics, stunting, rope jumping, fitness training, choreography, and props (such as pompoms, batons, Colour Guard flags, etc.). Your child will experience benefits that include increased physical fitness, coordination, balance, strength, and flexibility, along with concentration, respect, focus, and listening skills in a fun and safe environment.  Participants get to learn basic moves with certified instructors then show off their new talents for family and friends at the end of the week.

Camp Waitlists – Our programs can fill quickly. If there is a camp that's full when you are registering, put your name on the waitlist. When demand is high, we can sometimes create a new camp, add more spots, or suggest another option.
